15. Sure As the Wind
The last rehearsal for the school year was a party, of course. Snacks and listening to a CD of their music.
One interesting tidbit. The music was loud, and we were talking, and someone was even playing on the piano. Then Christus factus est came on. Two or three girls jumped up to stand next to the speakers to sing along. Others joined in--maybe half the group. This is the only piece that got that kind of reaction.

Marvellous. I was surprised by how innocently the choir sings the quilismas in "autem" (mortem autem crucis). The overall direction of the melody is downward, bottoming out at the end of "crucis". The quilismas along the way at "autem" can be seen as stumblings on the way to Golgotha, but here they're sung lightly, innocently, which is touching and suggests beautifully the great love (and strength) shown to us by God in the midst of Christ's sacrifice. Nicely done. This is a good example of how a more flexible interpretation of chant rhythm can bring new rewards.
