Spending too much in Libya?

Just thinking, somebody mentioned we're "spending all that money in Libya." Actually, I think it's all "spent" right here in the US, in our massive, ever-self-replicating military industrial complex. Follow the money.

If we have to drop stuff, I wonder what would happen if you dropped a dollar-for-dollar equivalent amount of non-destructive but diverting and/or uplifting goods: solar-powered generators, iPads, soccer equipment, water, ukuleles, artist paints, cupcake mix, those neat desktop factories that make plastic parts, blue jeans, tools, iPods, dog-training manuals, hang-glider kits, do-it-yourself literacy for girls... What would have an effect given the massive amounts afforded by replacing the cost of military action?
